Lu Jie is Founder and Chief-Curator of the Long March Project, a widely acclaimed ongoing art endeavour investigating the contradiction and dilemma of contemporary art from a Chinese context, working in collaboration with international artists across various spaces and conceptual geographies. Since 2002, Long March Space in Beijing has operated as the headquarters of this ambitious project, offering a platform to showcase contemporary art through exhibition, research, publication and mobile residency. Lu Jie has curated numerous international exhibitions for museum and public art contexts, and contributed to an extensive number of conferences and symposia across Asia, Europe, North America and the Pacific region, which have invariably engaged dialogue on the dynamically developing art world in China, and the broader aims of the Long March Project. Lu Jie holds a BFA from China Academy of Art and an MA in Creative Curating from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

He has contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues and journals including: MJ Manifesta Journal: Journal of Contemporary Curatorship, World Contemporary Art in the Eyes of Asia (Gwangju, 2006), Prague Biennale catalogue (Prague, 2005), 800 Meters Under (Beijing, 2006), Qin Ga: Miniature Long March (Beijing, 2005), Who is Guo Fengyi? (Beijing, 2005) and Long March – A Walking Visual Display (Beijing, 2003).
