Dinh Q. Lê
CV
Dinh Q. Lê was born in Ha Tien, a small town near the Cambodian border, in 1968. In 1978, when the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia took place, Lê and his family fled to Thailand, and one year later immigrated to Los Angeles. Lê received a BFA degree in photography from University of California, Santa Barbara, and later an MFA from The School of Visual Arts, New York. His earlier work, which consisted of large-scale woven photomontages, was largely influenced by his early childhood experience of watching his aunt weaving traditional grass mats. His current work includes installation, video, sculpture and urban intervention. He works both in Vietnam and Los Angeles.
