Miguel Hernández-Navarro
CV
is Director of CENDEAC (Center of Documentation and Advanced Studies in Contemporary Art), Spain, and Professor of Art History at the University of Murcia. He holds a Ph.D. in art history. His main research interests include antivisual art, contemporary art theory and multicultural studies. He is a member of the Drafting Committee for the journal Visual Studies and collaborates with the journals Exitbook, Debats and the Italian magazine Aut-Aut.
He is author of several books including: El archivo escotómico de la modernidad: pequeños pasos para una teoría de la visión (2007), La so(m)bra de lo real: El arte como vomiorio (2006); Mary Kelly: La balada de Kastriot Rexhepi (Editor, 2007); Cartografías del cuerpo: la dimensión corporal en el arte contemporáneo (co-edited with P. A. Cruz, 2004), La práctica de la crítica (co-edited with P. A. Cruz, 2006). He is also art critic and independent curator. Counting among his exhibitions are, Impurezas. El híbrido pintura-fotografía en el último arte español (Murcia, 2004); Peripheries of the Body (New York, 2006); 2Move: Double Movement/Migratory Aesthetics (co-curated with Mieke Bal, Murcia/Enkhuizen, 2007). He is currently participating with Mieke Bal in a series of conferences on the subject of Migratory Aesthetics and the question of Mobility.
