Rafael Sámano Róo studied art history at the Universidad Iberoamericana Mexico. He has been working as a researcher at the Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) since 1992, as Assistant Head of the Research Department from 1996 to 2001 and as has been Head of the same department since June 2001. As researcher, co-curator and curator he has collaborated in several exhibitions organized by MUNAL, dedicated to Mexican art of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twen-tieth century. He has participated in various congresses such as Retos del museo en Méxiao y -Latinoamérica (IdoMu, Centro de Arte Mexicano y Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Internacional Museo Rufino Tamayo), and has held several courses on culture and museums at the Universidad Iberoamericana as well as independent courses in curatorial studies. He is co-author of the museological and interpretation project, Proyecto MUNAL 2000. He supervised the academic coordination and co-curated the three hypertext rooms with which the Museum was re-inaugurated. He has developed the museological project for the new Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México that opened in November 2008.
